Jane Kits produce a range of kits which enable the handyman to do his own electroplating on the bench. Doing your own plating is economical, and it is also very convenient, it becomes an interesting hobby. The secret of success is cleanliness and the preparation of your jobs. Your attention to detail will ensure that you will produce parts plated to your own satisfaction. The kits have been well tried and proven. A comprehensive Instruction book is included in each kit. The book covers plating using either nickel, zinc, or copper kits. Steel blackening and electroless nickel are also covered, and there is a section on parts cleaning. HELP, HELP, there is also a trouble shooting section, and I am always available to advise customers.

Kits can be made up to any size to suit your individual requirements. The basic handyman kit is a 4 litre kit which simply means that the amount of electrolyte in your plating bath will be 4 litres. The electrolyte comes in powder form to be mixed with water to make up your plating bath. This size kit is ideal for motor cycle or car restoration, or for many other uses. Our customers are using the kits for plating fishing reels & lures, Jewellery, firearms, antique telephones, and model engineering. I have restored my own 1954 Triumph and 54 Matchless using a 4 litre kit. Kits can be made up to any size to suit your needs, for a modest extra cost you can go up to an 10 or 20 litre kit. If you are not sure which way to go phone or E-Mail John at Jane Kits. Larger kits are available. Everything that you need to start your plating is included in the kit. A variable voltage power supply is included to supply DC current.

One of the most often overlooked parts of electroplating on the bench is the cleaning of the parts to be plated. The parts must be chemically clean to be plated successfully. We have a cleaning kit which consists of a rust and scale remover metal cleaner and a strong chemical parts wash. Treat your parts with these products and they will be ready to go into the plating bath. Bead blasting and using the cleaners if possible is ideal. There is no need what so ever to have to use dangerous acids or strong alkaline cleaners. It is essential to read the book included in the kit before you start out on your plating. E-Mail Jane Kits and we can send you more information, or give me a ring if you would like to discuss your project.
