JANE GOLDBRITE

Jane kits markets a product under the name of Goldbrite, which is easy to use and brings your zinc plated parts to an attractive gold colour. The name used for the process in the plating industry is passivating. In real terms it is a chromate dip, after plating, the part to be dipped in the Goldbrite is lifted from the plating bath and is then rinsed in a clean water rinse bath.

The Goldbrite does not like left over plating chemical, and the Goldbrite will not take to the surface of the part if there are any traces of plating chemical left on the surface to be dipped.

Hold the part to be cleaned by the wire used to hang the part in the plating bath. Use our Partswash in a small container mixed with water and scrub the part clean using a toothbrush. Do not touch with your fingers. Rise the part in your rinse bath and do a water break test. This means that when the part is rinsed in the clean water rinse bath and held up to the light, the water on the part must hang on the surfaces of the part in an unbroken clear film. This is most important, if the water breaks into beads, clean again. It is a waste of time going any further with items that are not chemically clean. If you do not have our Partswash use wash up liquid or Sugar soap. Do not touch the part with your fingers.

The Goldbrite is supplied in liquid form slowly add the Goldbrite to the appropriate amount of water for the size of the bath you are preparing. The amount used is 25/30 ml. per litre.

When you are satisfied that the part to be treated is clean, hold the part by the wire and dip in the Goldbrite for30 secs .to a minute Lift the part out and dip quickly in and out of clean water, shake or lightly blow with air to get rid of excess water The longer that the part is in the mix the darker the part will become. Experiment with some unimportant bits first. Hang the part to dry in the shade for 24 hours. All chemicals that you cannot safely drink are classed as hazardous. Store the Goldbrite in a screw top container and mark do not drink. Keep away from children as it looks like cordial after mixing. The Goldbrite is a passivating dip and the chromate content is only 3%. If used as directed it is safe to use and is not considered dangerous.
